Who knew I could get such amazing clumps from a $2.99 32 oz. tub of gel?? It doesn’t provide enough hold for my waves but it sure makes up for it in the clumping area! What’s odd about this gel is that the consistency doesn’t lead you to believe that it will produce clumps; it’s sticky, thick, and isn’t the best at distribution until you add a bit of water, smooth and scrunch away.
I read the two biggest threads on the general forum about this gel and despite the dirt cheap price tag, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to add a mondo tub of gel that I wasn’t entirely sure would work for my hair to my product stash. A coupon in the mail for 20% off your entire purchase from Sally Beauty quickly changed my mind. (Unfortunately, I didn’t let the PJ run amok in the store and I walked away with the gel, one cake eyeliner, and a yummy banana scented lotion). With protein in the ingredients list, I wasn’t expecting much when using the product over time as most protein-containing gels result in strawlike hair when used for more than a week. However, I’ve been using ecostyler for over a week with no protein overload symptoms yet!
On Tuesday I cowashed with vo5, conditioned with aohr, used about a dime’s worth of kbb milk as a leave in, applied about 3 half dollars’ of ecostyler with water, and topped it off with chi infra gel for extra hold. My hair was soft, super clumpy, and frizz free despite a dewpoint of 62 and 84% humidity. I even had one of our office techs ask if I had recently permed my hair since it looked much wavier. Yesterday I used kbb super silky in lieu of the nectar and my waves were even tighter!! Lest it just be a fluke due to reintroducing AOHR into my routine, I used Aura cherry almond bark conditioner followed by kbb super silky as a leave in again and was rewarded with chunky, clumpy waves again. Ecostyler is a keeper!

I have tried the EcoStyler Olive Gel which I was OK with it, but it did not give me full satisfaction as with KCCC. So I returned it. Plus I did not like the ingredients other than Olive Oil. KCCC is represented as a natural curly hair product. I purchased my tub from Sally’s as well. The banana scented lotion sounds appealing. What’s the name of it so I can keep in mind next time? I love fruity flavored everything from lip gloss, to body spray, to lotions.
Do you feel that the Karen’s Body products are really good? I would like to try this hair line as well. So I read that you do cowashes on your hair. I hope they produce more non sulfate shampoos on the market. I tend to love Tigi Bed Head shampoos and Conditioners. I think only two are with sulfate shampoo. The one I LOVVVE called Foxy Curls. They still don’t have purest ingredients good for dry hair. For me my hair needs moisture constantly.
Isn’t it interesting how coworkers will react to your hair? I get comments when I started wearing my curly hair versus wearing it flat ironed. I like wild hair, and more my curls can stand up and salute the sky. I’m happy.

I haven’t used my Ecostyler Krystal gel in a while. My lack of updates is due to the fact that my hair went through a spectacularly bad period after a haircut. I’m talking almost 3 mos worth of crap hair.
Btw, the banana-scented lotion is called Hemp (http://www.sallybeauty.com/Hemp-Body-Moisturizer/MOIST4,default,pd.html). They also have larger sized bottles.

Did you cut your hair shorter? You seem to have such lovely hair. I cannot imagine it appearing bad. Did you not like the hair cut or your hair did not like it? I tried the Banana Brulee and Hair Butter from SheScentIt. I love the smell and how it feels on my hair. I think it gives too much moisture because I use and it gave me frizzies. I think it does better on my natural curls than wearing it in a straight style.
Hmm…You know I smelled the Hemp Body Lotion recently at Sally. I did not get that banana scent. The Banana Brulee gives more banana smell. I want to try Donna Marie products. Please keep blogging even if you do not like the process of your hair over those 3 months. It helps to use your blog in a therapeutic way. To share and get off what is on your hair (as in the cliche, your chest).

My recent haircut is about an inch above BSL but there are lots of layers put in. My hair just did NOT like the cut prior to that; no matter what reliable product I used, my hair was just not having it. I have as yet to try SheScentIt and Donna Marie extensively. I’ve got a ton of products that I need to go through and my bf would kill me if he knew I was adding more to the collection
I eventually want to get back into blogging like before but work has been so busy these days that it was even tough to find time to respond to old comments!

Ah I know it must be tough to have not a very good haircut in hopes the second one corrects the first one. Is BSL acronym for Basic Shoulder Length? I know what you mean when it comes the PJ in us. I have products after products. When I watch Youtube on natural hair or go on sites to review products, I AM DONE!! I want to start trying everything in sight. Over the weekend, I bought shampoo and conditioner by Alba. I think I may wash my hair tomorrow and see how I like this product brand. I am always looking for a shampoo with no sulfates. Interested in trying shampoo bars. Have you ever tried pure shampoo bars? My BF is the same way. I think mines feel it is so wasteful if I do not use up everything. :/ Really I should especially if you spend a lot on them.
He welcomes me to try all what will enhance, moisturize, and soften my hair. hehe They have hardly any hair to worry about. How do they know our woes?
Yeah I am looking for employment which has not been very easy. So I have time to blog a lot but I get lazy. LOL It takes a lot of work to do any blog. I started a photography blog and never kept up with it.
